IPAMA
the acronym for Indian Printing Packaging & Allied
Machinery Manufacturers Association was founded in 1991
is an apex body, and this Association is playing a
pivotal role in the policy-making of exports and
imports, research and development of printing and
packaging machines.
IPAMA represents 80% of the industry, with over 245 members on its roster, IPAMA is recognized by Commerce
and Industry Ministry of the Government of India.
IPAMA is dedicated to
disseminating latest information on technology, research
& development related to graphic arts industry, market
perspectives and various developments taking place
around the globe, relevant to the Indian Printing,
Packaging, Converting and Allied Industries through its
bimonthly journal IPAMA BULLETIN.
As an active member of the Committee for Indian
standards for Printing Industry, under the aegis of
Bureau of Indian Standards, IPAMA plays vital role in
formulating standards for Indian products related to
printing, packaging and converting industry.
As a result of this, today, Indian products have
largely earned global acceptance mainly due to IPAMA’s
efforts.
According to a recent survey, the Indian printing
industry in India has consistently outpaced GDP growth.
Since 1989, the printing and packaging
industries’ collective growth has had a compound
annual growth rate of over 16.2%.
The growth has always been in double digits and
significantly, always more than twice the GDP growth
rate. The Indian Printing Industry is poised to
achieve 60% growth by the year 2010 and can generate phenomenal
increase in employment opportunities.
The printing and packaging industry in India has assumed
growing significance during last decade.
The printing industry is one of the biggest and
fastest growing sectors in India.
Conservatively speaking, we have more than
1,50,000 printing presses actively in operation all over
India, with a capital investment of over Rs.83,000
million.
This industry provides employment to about 1.5
million people directly or indirectly.
According to census report of year 2001 the literacy
growth in India has touched 66.72% figure.
Keeping in view this amazing growth in literacy,
which is a direct result of predominant role played by
printing industry, and continuous demand for printing and packaging
requirements of a rapidly progressing trade and industry
– which has resulted in keeping abreast of the latest
and the state-of-the-art developments in the entire
gamut of pre-press, in-press and post-press processes
involved in the printing and packaging industry.
The computerized information technology and
electronic invasion in the various stages of printing
and packaging processes, the technical personnel
involved in the industry need to get updated on the
on-going related developments in India and other western
countries.
To meet this ever growing and continuous demand for
high-speed and high-tech printing, packaging and
converting machines
– the Indian graphic arts machine manufacturers, of course, being
aware of the challenge before them have committed
themselves to fulfill the need of the nation to give
technologically update machines and related equipments
matching to international standards and quality.
The printing and packaging industry in India and
its output in the form of magazines, newspapers, books,
catalogues, packaging products and other publications
like coffee-table books etc. have come up to
international standards.
IPAMA’s constant focus on ever growing and continuous
demand for printing, packaging and converting, drove it to associate
itself with national and international bodies in the
thirst of research and development and exchange of
technical know-how.
IPAMA participated in PRINT 05 & CONVERTING 05
meet at Chicago, USA.
A delegation of 12 members represented IPAMA at
this congregation of giants of graphic arts industry.
To boost the research and development in each individual
member's establishment IPAMA has always encouraged them
to get ISO accreditations and is subsidizing such
activities on ad hoc basis by an amount of Rs.15,000/-.
Keeping
in view this ever growing and continuous demand for
printing, packaging and converting, IPAMA decided to focus on
independent exposition of all sectors of Graphic Arts
Industry independently with all its might and
organised a
very successful show IPAMA EXPO 2006
at HITEX
Fair Grounds, Hyderabad, A.P. from 10th
to 14th November 2006.
Keeping in view globalization and the massive
Electronic and Information Technology's direct impact on
graphic arts industry IPAMA has decided to have a joint
exposition of latest innovations in the entire gamut of
printing, packaging and converting in all segments of
pre-press, in-press, post-press and finishing, by
holding "PRINTPACK INDIA 2009" with
India Trade Promotion Organisation (ITPO) from January
18-23, 2009 at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi.
